Patients express frustration over limited parking at Royal Stoke University Hospital, calling for more spaces to ease the burden
Stoke-on-Trent: People are really fed up with the parking situation at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Patients are rallying for more parking spaces after the hospital applied for an overflow lot with just over 60 spots.
But honestly, folks are saying that 60 spaces just won’t cut it. They need hundreds more! One reader, Stephanie Goodwin, shared her frustration, saying it can take nearly an hour just to find a spot.
Then there’s Michelle Brookes, who had a tough time last week. Her daughter was in the car with a sick seven-month-old, and it took her an hour to park. She ended up getting a ticket for parking on double-yellow lines near A&E. That’s just not right!
Kayleigh Axon had a similar experience. She spent 20 minutes looking for a space with her sick two-year-old in the car. She even thought it might have been quicker to drive to her in-laws and have them drop her off. Crazy, right?
Julie Crawford, who visits weekly and has a disability, said it’s a nightmare. Her family member leaves two hours early just to make sure they can find a spot. It’s just awful.
Michelle Levitt has given up and now gets a lift to the Royal Stoke. She even prefers to book appointments at County Hospital in Stafford instead. She said it’s just impossible to find parking there.
Julia James had a simple suggestion: if the hospital didn’t keep people waiting for hours for their appointments, maybe there would be more parking available!
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is set to make a decision on the planning application soon. The proposed overflow car park would be located off Hilton Road in Hartshill.
