Virginia Water: This charming village is making headlines for its sky-high property prices. It’s been named one of the most desirable places to live in the UK.

With an average house price of around £1.4 million, it’s no wonder people are talking about it. The Telegraph teamed up with Savills to figure out which towns are the best based on various factors.

They looked at things like how many residents have managerial jobs, their qualifications, health, and of course, home prices. Virginia Water came in at 11th place on the list.

Located in Surrey, not too far from London, it’s also a filming spot for two Harry Potter movies. Pretty cool, right? Woking is nearby, and you’ve got Bracknell to the west, plus Heathrow Airport just a stone’s throw away.

The village is nestled on the edge of Windsor Great Park, boasting a lovely two-mile lake that’s perfect for families, walkers, and nature lovers. It’s got a nice mix of shops and quick train links to London, making it super convenient.

Virginia Water is also home to Wentworth Golf Club and attractions like Virginia Water Lake and Savill Garden. Plus, there’s Cabrera Avenue, a lovely riverside walk that’s a haven for wildlife.

Many folks have seen Virginia Water on screen, as it stood in for Hogwarts’ lake in the Harry Potter films. Remember that scene with Buckbeak? Yep, that was filmed right there!

According to The Telegraph, while the average house price reflects the older homes near the station, properties around Wentworth Golf Club are even pricier, hidden behind electric gates.

Rightmove reported that the average house price in Virginia Water hit £1,551,999 last year. Detached homes sold for an average of £2,295,854, while semi-detached and flats were more affordable at £724,000 and £467,242, respectively.

Overall, house prices in Virginia Water have seen a 4% increase from the previous year, but they’re down 25% from the peak in 2022. Quite the rollercoaster ride for property values!
