Residents of this Zone 2 area enjoy a peaceful life, claiming it’s safer than West London
London: Many folks in London are looking to escape the craziness of the city center. But there’s this hidden gem in Zone 2 that families are raving about for its peaceful vibe.
It’s called the Isle of Dogs, sitting pretty between the sleek buildings of Canary Wharf and the historic charm of Greenwich. People living there say it’s the perfect mix of both worlds.
Take Teresa Martin, 56, who lives near Canary Wharf. She loves the greenery of the isle. “I adore the canals, parks, and even the farm. It’s a nice break from the chaos of central London,” she shared.
Amiutha, 26, just moved in and is already smitten. “I’ve lived in Wembley and Ealing Broadway, but this place is so much quieter, with lovely people and great transport,” she said.
Mitchell Lee, a long-time resident, thinks the growing number of people might change the vibe a bit, but he still believes it’s a fantastic spot for families. “It’s changed a lot, but I still love it. My nieces and nephews enjoy the great schools here,” he mentioned.
Arpan Patel, who’s been around for five years, sees the changes as a good thing. “When I first got here, there wasn’t much to do. Now, it’s buzzing with life,” he said. He also feels safe, noting, “It’s quieter at night and feels safer than West London.”
Henry Turner, 35, thinks the Isle of Dogs is on the rise but points out a big issue. “Canary Wharf is a financial powerhouse, but some parts of the isle are still struggling. It’s a bit odd,” he explained.
Mohammad Khan, 22, has lived there his whole life and thinks the wealth gap adds to safety worries. “It’s pretty quiet unless you’re near Crossharbour. There’s been a rise in stabbings, mostly involving young people. I feel safe, but not everyone does,” he said.
Despite the changes, the Isle of Dogs remains a beloved spot for its blend of calm and city life. While many residents see the area evolving, they’re left wondering if these changes will help or hurt the community’s unique charm.
