A recent report reveals which Welsh councils receive the most complaints from residents, highlighting key issues faced by locals.
Cardiff: A new report has come out showing which councils in Wales are really getting on people’s nerves. The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has shared some eye-opening stats about complaints.
In just six months, one council got a whopping 24 times more complaints per person than the least complained-about council. Cardiff topped the list with nearly 15 complaints for every 1,000 residents, followed closely by Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea.
On the flip side, the Isle of Anglesey had only 21 complaints total, which is pretty impressive. It seems like waste and refuse issues are the biggest gripes, making up 37% of all complaints. Housing and social services also got their fair share of complaints.
Interestingly, over half of the complaints were upheld, meaning councils agreed there was a problem. The ombudsman noted that almost 11,000 complaints were logged, and most were handled within the expected time frame.
In total, 707 complaints were serious enough to be referred to the ombudsman, who stepped in for about 12% of those cases. They also released a list of the most complained-about housing associations, which is worth checking out.
