Kirkby: This town is buzzing with excitement as it undergoes some serious changes. Residents are proud and protective of their home, and they want to see it thrive.

Neil Dunne, a local dad, sums it up perfectly. He says, “We won’t let anyone badmouth our town – that’s our job!” It’s clear that folks here have a strong sense of community and a desire for improvement.

Over the last decade, Kirkby has seen a mini-makeover. Plans for 2025 are already in the works, and locals are hopeful that these changes will attract more visitors. The town has transformed from its rural roots into a bustling hub, especially after WWII when it became a key industrial site.

Back in the day, Kirkby was just farmland. But as people moved in, it quickly grew. Joe Hayes, who moved here as a kid, remembers the shift. “When we arrived, it was all fields. Now, it’s a lively town with a great community spirit,” he shares.

The local council is also on board with the changes. They’ve invested over £2 million into new retail developments, and the community is buzzing about it. The new train station and retail spaces are already making a difference, boosting the local economy and creating jobs.

Jed, a lifelong resident, has seen the town evolve. “There’s been a massive change in the last ten years. It’s surprising for those who haven’t been here in a while,” he says.

Fay Bennett, who opened a coffee shop in the town, echoes this sentiment. “Kirkby is definitely on the up! We used to travel to other towns for shopping, but now we have everything we need right here,” she explains.

Kerry Edgar, who runs a sports shop, feels the same way. She’s excited about the new businesses popping up and believes they’re making Kirkby a more vibrant place. “It’s friendly here, and everyone knows each other. People should come and see for themselves,” she encourages.

Neil Dunne adds that while they’re thrilled about the new supermarket, they’re also hoping for more leisure options. “We want to see more cultural spots and nightlife. There’s a lot of potential here,” he says.

Kirkby is a town with a rich history and a bright future. The residents are passionate about their home and are eager to see it flourish. They’re ready to welcome anyone who wants to check it out, but remember, only they can criticize it!
