Newcastle: The Ivy restaurant might finally open in the North-east. This famous chain is looking to bring its unique dining experience to the city.

Five years ago, The Ivy planned to open in Newcastle. They wanted to take over the Byron burger building on Grey Street. But then, the pandemic hit, and those plans fell through.

Now, The Ivy has expressed interest in Newcastle again. They haven’t picked a location yet, but several prime spots are available or will be soon.

One potential site is the former JG Windows unit in Central Arcade. This space became available after the music business went into liquidation. Property agents say both restaurants and retail brands are interested in this location.

Also, Lloyds Bank is moving to Monument Mall later this year. This move will free up a large historic building, which could be perfect for The Ivy.

Currently, the nearest Ivy restaurants are in York, Harrogate, and Leeds. The chain has expanded significantly, now operating 45 locations across the UK.

The Ivy offers a variety of meals, including breakfast, brunch, and afternoon tea. They also cater to different dietary needs with vegan and vegetarian options.

Recently, they opened a new restaurant in Liverpool, transforming a former Bank of England building.
