A violent ambush in Stoke-on-Trent left bin men traumatized and jobless
Stoke-on-Trent: Three bin men faced a shocking attack while working. A gang armed with a sledgehammer and axe ambushed them, leaving them scared and traumatized.
The chaos began after a minor near-miss between a bin wagon and a car. This small incident escalated quickly, leading to the attack on the bin men by four individuals.
During the assault, one worker had a gun pointed at him. He later shared in court that he struggled with daily tasks and had to leave his job after 38 years due to the trauma.
Another victim suffered a stroke, but doctors couldn’t confirm if it was linked to the attack. The driver, who was punched multiple times, needed hospital care for his injuries.
The trouble started on March 21, 2023, when Joe Corden lost his temper after the near-collision. He even used a lollipop sign to damage the bin wagon.
Corden then gathered his friends to ambush the second bin wagon. One of them fired a gun during the attack, which was caught on dashcam footage.
Corden, 29, and his accomplices faced multiple charges, including assault and possession of weapons. Their cases are ongoing, with sentencing expected soon.
The youth involved received a three-year rehabilitation order at a previous hearing.
