Paisley: So, there was this really sad incident on Hogmanay. A teenager got arrested after a crash that sadly took the life of a 70-year-old woman named Elizabeth Kennedy.

This all went down around 7 PM on December 31, right on Barrhead Road. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but, unfortunately, Elizabeth was pronounced dead there.

The police have arrested an 18-year-old guy in connection with the crash, but he’s been released while they continue their investigation.

Before this, Police Scotland had asked the public for help in finding the driver of a car that didn’t stop after hitting Elizabeth near Ladykirk Crescent.

Detective Inspector Jan MacColl shared that their thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this tough time. They’re also urging anyone who saw the crash or a white car in the area to come forward.

They’re especially interested in any dash-cam footage that might help with the investigation. If you can help, you can call 101 and mention incident number 2566 from December 31.

In a recent update, Police Scotland confirmed the arrest and reiterated the tragic nature of the incident. It’s just heartbreaking to see something like this happen.
