A teenager faces consequences after chanting slurs at a football match, leading to a court appearance and a ban from games

During the game, Kian started banging on a metal wall and shouting some pretty awful slurs aimed at Liverpool fans. It was during a Premier League match on December 1, 2024, and a steward noticed him right away.
After the match, Kian was arrested for his behavior. When the police confronted him, he claimed he didn’t even know what the slurs meant. But he admitted he was just angry because Manchester City was losing at halftime.
In court, Kian, dressed in a grey suit, pleaded guilty to using threatening words that could upset others. His lawyer shared that he has a lot of respect for Liverpool, especially since he had heart surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital not too long ago.
His lawyer explained how Kian reflected on his actions after talking with his grandfather about the tragedies in football. The judge, Paul Healey, pointed out that there are limits to what can be said at matches, especially given the emotional weight of such events.
In the end, the judge recognized Kian’s remorse and gave him a three-year Football Banning Order, along with a fine and costs to pay. As he left the court, Kian was visibly upset, wiping tears from his face.
