Colorado: This story is pretty chilling. A 19-year-old named Brian Cohee casually told police he killed a homeless man just to see what it felt like. Can you believe that?

It all started when his mom found something really disturbing in his bedroom. She discovered a severed head and hands, and freaked out. Meanwhile, Cohee was just sitting there, telling the cops it belonged to a guy named Warren Barnes, who had been missing.

When the police asked him why he did it, he said, “I wanted to know what murder feels like.” It’s just so eerie how he spoke about it without any emotion. He even mentioned he used a knife to do the deed.

Warren Barnes, who was 69, was known in the area as “The Reading Man.” He often sat outside a local store reading books. His disappearance was reported back in February 2021, and it’s heartbreaking to think about how this all unfolded.

Cohee’s family thought it was funny when he got their car stuck on a boat ramp. But they had no idea that blood was all over the vehicle. The next day, while cleaning, his dad found a knife and a wallet that didn’t belong to Brian. That’s when things started to get really serious.

Then, his mom made the horrifying discovery in his closet. She found a plastic container that was “covered in maggots.” When she opened it, she realized it was a human head. Her frantic 911 call was played in a documentary, and it’s just gut-wrenching to hear her panic.

When Cohee was questioned, he said he was in a bad place mentally and had stopped taking his meds. He admitted he was looking for someone homeless to target. He described how he stabbed Mr. Barnes in the neck and even said it was surprisingly easy.

He went on to explain how he dismembered the body and put the head in a pizza box. It’s just so disturbing to think about. He even claimed he was inspired by serial killers like Ted Bundy, thinking murder would be an amazing experience.

In the end, Cohee was sentenced to life in prison without parole. He tried to plead not guilty by reason of insanity, but the jury decided he knew right from wrong. A memorial for Mr. Barnes was set up in his favorite reading spot, which is a nice tribute to him.
