A teenager has been arrested following a robbery incident involving a gym user in Nottingham
Nottingham: So, there was this wild incident at a gym in Nottingham. A teenager got arrested after a gym-goer was attacked and robbed. The victim, a 21-year-old, was just walking to the gym when this guy approached him, asking to borrow his phone.
The victim had a hunch that the guy was up to no good, so he said he didn’t have any credit. That didn’t sit well with the robber, who accused him of lying, grabbed the phone, and punched him in the neck. Ouch!
They ended up in a bit of a tussle, and the phone fell to the ground. The victim managed to grab it back, but as he tried to get away, the robber yanked his gym bag off his shoulders and took off. The victim chased him but lost him in the crowd.
This all went down around 12:30 PM on a Sunday. Later, the victim and his friends spotted the robber again on Wimbledon Road. They chased him, but he dropped the bag and escaped again.
When the victim checked the bag, it had stuff that didn’t belong to him. He called the police, and by Tuesday morning, they arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery. He’s still in custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Frank Guddemi from Nottinghamshire Police said that robberies like this can be really traumatic. Luckily, the victim wasn’t seriously hurt, but any violence can escalate quickly.
They’re still looking for anyone who might have information or footage from the area. If you know anything, you can call the police or Crimestoppers. It’s good to help out!
