A teacher has been permanently banned from the classroom after threatening a colleague with a butter knife during a shocking incident at school
Fishburn: So, there was this wild incident at a primary school where a teacher, David Crawford, held a butter knife to a colleague’s throat. Can you believe that? It happened back in May 2020, and it’s just now getting the attention it deserves.
During a hearing, it came out that Crawford approached the woman from behind and made some really threatening comments while holding the knife. It’s just shocking to think this happened in a school, right?
Another staff member saw the whole thing go down, and later, Crawford tried to brush it off as just “clowning around.” Seriously? That’s not how you joke with someone! The incident was reported to the authorities, and he ended up getting convicted of assault.
Fast forward to last month, and the panel decided he was guilty. They said he can’t teach anymore, which seems totally fair given the circumstances. They pointed out that using a knife in a school setting is a big deal, especially with kids around.
Crawford didn’t admit to anything and claimed the accusations were dishonest. But the panel wasn’t having it. They recommended he be banned from teaching for life, and it looks like that’s exactly what’s happening.
Now, he can’t teach in any school or even apply to get back into teaching. It’s a pretty serious consequence for a really serious action. The school where this happened has changed management since then, but they didn’t want to comment on the incident.
