Swansea City is actively pursuing new signings, including Joe Low, as they aim to strengthen their squad this January
They’re not planning a massive overhaul, though. It seems like they’re aiming for just two or three new faces this winter. Williams has made it clear that any new signings need to up the quality of the team, which might mean we shouldn’t expect too much.
The club isn’t just going to throw money around for the sake of it. But there are definitely spots that need some attention, especially in defense. With Nelson Abbey leaving, they’re a bit thin on options. Right now, it’s mostly up to Ben Cabango and Harry Darling, with a couple of veterans backing them up.
Speaking of Darling, his contract situation is a bit of a mess, so it makes sense that they’re looking for a central defender. Joe Low from Wycombe Wanderers is a top target, and they’ve already put in a second bid after the first one was turned down.
Wycombe hasn’t responded yet, and they’re understandably hesitant to let go of such an important player. But there are signs that Low might be on his way out soon. Just the other night, Swansea confirmed they’ve signed Anders Hagelskjaer from Molde, making him the second center-back to join after Sonny Bradley’s loan from Derby County.
While Wycombe might be worried about losing Low, these new signings suggest Swansea is preparing for that possibility. Other clubs, like Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle, are also interested in Low, but Swansea seems to be in the lead. Plus, the chance for him to return to his roots in South Wales could be a big draw.
But it’s not just about defense. They’re also looking for a winger and possibly a central midfielder. Luke Cundle is on their radar, but he’s just one of many options. There’s still interest in Noel MIlleskog, and they’ve even been linked to young Saudi midfielder Abdulmalik Al-Jaber.
