Beaverbrooks in Sutton Coldfield will close on April 6 after 25 years, citing lease expiration and shopping center redevelopment.
Sutton Coldfield: A well-known shop is closing after 25 years. Beaverbrooks, located in the Gracechurch Centre, will shut its doors later this year.
Customers received emails about the closure. The message expressed sadness over the store’s departure after many years of service.
They thanked customers for their support and mentioned a closing sale with 30% off everything. Signs are already up in the window.
One customer shared their fond memories of shopping there. They appreciated the attentive staff and great products.
The shop cited two reasons for closing. First, their lease is expiring. Second, the shopping center is set for redevelopment.
Beaverbrooks will close on Sunday, April 6, but will continue normal operations until then. They aim to help staff find roles at other locations.
Anna Blackburn, the managing director, explained that the store’s space is needed for non-retail redevelopment. Customers can still shop at other locations or online.
Beaverbrooks values its people and is working to support affected staff. They thanked the Sutton Coldfield community for their support over the years.
While redevelopment plans are in place, they haven’t started yet. A planning application is still pending.
A spokesperson for the Gracechurch Centre mentioned they are in talks with Beaverbrooks to explore options for keeping the store open.
