Over 1,150 participants took part in the Tenby Boxing Day Swim, celebrating with a superhero theme and raising funds for local charities
Tenby: This morning, a whopping 1,150 brave souls took the plunge in the Tenby Boxing Day Swim. It was a blast!
The theme was superheroes, celebrating the RNLI’s 200th anniversary. You had Batman, The Incredibles, and even Wonder Woman diving into the chilly waters of North Beach.
The water was surprisingly nice, and RNLI mascot Stormy Stan was there, cheering everyone on. The atmosphere was electric!
One couple made the day even more special. Philip Frith, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, proposed to his girlfriend, Victoria Tansey, right on the sand. How sweet is that?
Philip’s move was definitely one for the books, and the swim chairman, Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, was thrilled for them. He said they didn’t expect a proposal at the swim!
The event has a rich history, raising tons of money for charities over the years. This time, Tenby RNLI was the main beneficiary, which is fantastic.
Town mayor Dai Morgan loved seeing so many locals come out for such a great cause. He said Boxing Day on the beach is just the best tradition.
Erin Morgan, the mayor’s daughter and Tenby’s town crier, gave a special shout-out to kick off the swim. It was a real community affair!
Even The Grinches were having a good time! The energy was high, with festive music and a lively DJ keeping spirits up.
After the swim, participants were greeted with medals and warm soup from the Giltar Hotel, served by the Tenby and District Lions. What a way to warm up!
