Stourhead is inviting volunteers to join its team and help preserve the estate’s rich history and beautiful gardens
Stourton: You can find out how to make a difference at Stourhead during their volunteer recruitment days. Everyone is welcome to join in and see the various opportunities available with the National Trust team.
These recruitment days are set for Wednesday, January 22, and Wednesday, February 26, from 10 AM to 3 PM at Stourton Memorial Hall, right on the Stourhead estate, near Mere.
There are tons of volunteer roles at Stourhead that help maintain the estate, including its stunning gardens and the 18th-century Palladian mansion. Whether you love being outdoors, diving into history, or just want to greet visitors with a smile, there’s a spot for you.
Chantelle Margetts, the senior volunteering and community officer, shared how valuable volunteers are to Stourhead. She said they inspire everyone who visits and play a big role in conservation efforts. Together, they help preserve Stourhead’s legacy for future generations.
Carly Williams, a volunteer gardener, mentioned how great it feels to be part of a dedicated team caring for a place with such a rich gardening history. Plus, there’s always fun, laughter, and plenty of tea and cake involved! She also enjoys sharing her knowledge with visitors while balancing her full-time job as a Customer Services Manager.
If you’re looking to try something new this year, swing by the recruitment day anytime between 10 AM and 3 PM. You can chat with current volunteers and managers to learn about the flexible and exciting roles available.
