Surrey: Storm Éowyn is about to make its presence felt in the UK. The Met Office is warning of some pretty wild weather ahead, with strong winds and heavy rain expected.
Starting early Friday, January 24, the storm is likely to shake things up. Mike Silverstone from the Met Office mentioned that we should brace ourselves for some disruptive weather.
While the worst winds will hit Northern Ireland and parts of northern England, Surrey isn’t getting off easy. We’re looking at gusts around 50mph and some serious downpours.
In places like Guildford, Haslemere, and Farnham, rain is expected to come down hard between 6am and 9am. So, if you’re out and about, be careful on the roads.
RAC Breakdown’s Alice Simpson pointed out that strong winds can lead to fallen branches and trees, especially on rural routes. It’s a good idea to keep your speed down and stay alert.
The worst of the winds should hit Friday morning, but they’ll start to calm down by the afternoon. Still, places like Woking and Redhill will feel the gusts too.
As we head into the weekend, another low-pressure system might bring more rain and wind. So, keep your umbrellas handy for Sunday and Monday, even if it won’t be as intense as Friday.
