Over 30 schools in Wales are closed today due to Storm Éowyn’s high winds
Anglesey: So, it looks like Storm Éowyn is causing quite a stir in Wales. More than 30 schools are closed today because of some seriously high winds. We’re talking gusts that could hit 90 mph!
The closures are mostly on Anglesey, but a few schools in Gwynedd are also shutting down. Safety is the big concern here. Plus, there are travel warnings all over the place, and even bin collections might be affected.
According to Ireland’s Met Eireann, they recorded gusts of 80 mph at some spots off the west coast of Ireland. The amber weather warning is in effect from 6 am to 9 pm today, warning folks about the strong winds moving across the northwest of the UK.
They say we can expect peak gusts of 60-70 mph inland, and even higher along the coasts. It’s definitely a day to stay indoors if you can!
