Starbucks is revamping its loyalty program, making it easier to earn rewards but tougher to reach Gold status, now costing £250.
London: So, Starbucks is changing things up with their loyalty program. Starting next week, you’ll earn more stars for your cash, but getting to Gold status is going to be a bit of a stretch.
Right now, you get three stars for every pound you spend. But after January 28, it’s going to be ten stars per pound. Sounds great, right? But here’s the catch: the number of stars you need to redeem rewards is changing too.
Before, you needed 150 stars, which meant spending about £50, to start getting rewards. Now, you can snag a hot coffee or tea for just 130 stars, which is only £13. That’s a nice perk! But if you want those tasty bakery items, you’ll need 300 stars, and for any size drink, it’s 500 stars, the same as before.
Now, if you’re aiming for that Gold status, you better be ready to spend more. It used to be 450 stars, or £150, but now it’s jumping to 2,500 stars, which is £250. Ouch! But don’t worry, your current stars will be multiplied by 3.33 when the new scheme kicks in. So, if you’ve got 150 stars now, you’ll have 500 when it starts.
Starbucks says this new scheme is all about giving you more rewards sooner. They’re adding new tiers and options for food and drinks, which is pretty cool. You can even redeem stars for merchandise now, which is a first for them. So, while it’s a bit tougher to reach Gold, there are definitely some sweet rewards to look forward to!
