Staff at University Hospital Coventry express frustration over inadequate parking facilities after heavy rain caused flooding
Coventry: Staff at University Hospital Coventry are really upset about the parking situation. After heavy rain, many cars ended up submerged in water.
One employee, Ellen Kate, mentioned that this flooding happens every time it rains. Some folks even had to leave their cars behind because the engines got flooded.
Ellen is calling on the UHCW NHS Trust to step up and fix the parking issues. She pointed out that they pay around £60 a month for parking, which she thinks is way too much for such poor facilities.
She said, “You’d expect that with all the money we pay, they’d at least keep the car parks in decent shape so our cars don’t get damaged.”
It’s not just her; many staff members feel the same way. They want safe parking for their vehicles, especially since cars aren’t cheap.
On that rainy Monday, staff were seen trudging through water to get to their cars. The UHCW NHS Trust apologized, explaining that the River Sowe overflowed, causing the flooding.
In a statement, they acknowledged the issue and said they took action to close the flooded areas. They also sent help to those struggling to reach their vehicles. They recognized it was a tough situation and apologized for the hassle.
By the next day, the water levels had gone down, and only a few parking spots remained unavailable.
