Over 200 mobile speed cameras will be active in South Wales, including major roads like the M4, to enhance road safety this January
Newport: This January, South Wales is rolling out over 200 mobile speed cameras. They’ll be on major roads like the M4 and A470, so keep your eyes peeled.
Speeding is a big issue here. According to GoSafe, which includes the Welsh Government and emergency services, it’s a major cause of accidents on our roads.
Not only is speeding risky, but it can also hit you with a fine and three points on your license. The starting penalty is a £100 fine and those dreaded points.
If you’re caught speeding, there’s a chance to take a Driver Education Course instead of getting points, but it’ll cost you.
GoSafe’s mission is to make our roads safer by cutting down on accidents and saving lives. They’ve even mapped out where all the speed cameras will be this month.
Honestly, speeding to save a few minutes isn’t worth it. Plan your trips and allow for delays like traffic jams. It’s better to arrive late than risk a fine!
Motorists should watch out for mobile speed cameras in places like Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire, and the Vale of Glamorgan.
For a full list of where these cameras will be, check out the ‘Safety Camera Location Search’ on the GoSafe website.
There will be cameras on major routes, including the M4, A48, and A470. Plus, one will be set up near the toll plaza by the Prince of Wales Bridge and on Porthkerry Road by Cardiff Airport.
