Bright Stars Childcare in Frome is committed to enhancing its services after a recent Ofsted inspection highlighted areas for improvement.
Frome: Bright Stars Childcare is working hard to improve. They received a ‘Requires Improvement’ rating from Ofsted during their inspection on November 14, 2024.
The nursery was previously rated ‘Good.’ The latest inspection found areas needing improvement, especially in curriculum implementation and staff development.
Karen Fowler, the area manager, expressed disappointment with the findings. She assured that they are dedicated to enhancing the nursery for the children.
Despite the rating, inspectors noted positives. Children enjoy a safe and friendly environment, and the nursery is passionate about quality care and education.
Recent management changes have led to reflections on learning quality. The nursery is actively working on improvements to staff skills and knowledge.
According to the report, staff provide a safe space for children. However, the curriculum lacks ambition and does not challenge children based on their existing knowledge.
While children enjoy their time, staff interactions can be inconsistent. This sometimes leads to a loss of focus during activities.
The nursery is aware of the need for improvement and is addressing key areas. They are committed to providing quality care and education for all children.
Staff development is also a focus. While some changes have been made, teaching quality varies and is not consistently good.
Some strengths were noted, especially in physical development and encouraging independence. Babies and toddlers engage in activities that promote their growth.
Parents support the nursery, reporting satisfaction with the care and learning their children receive. Effective communication is a key aspect of their experience.
The report outlines areas for improvement, including professional development for staff and enhancing supervision and mentoring.
Bright Stars Childcare serves children from birth to four years old, with 113 enrolled and 88 places available. They operate Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm.
