Taunton: The main train line is closed this week. No trains are running between Taunton and Weston-super-Mare. Passengers should expect disruptions.

Trains will still operate between Taunton and London Paddington. You can catch trains from Weston-super-Mare to Paddington or Cardiff via Bristol Temple Meads. Some trains from Taunton to Bristol will take longer due to an alternative route.

Engineers will repair four bridges in Somerset this week. The work includes light refurbishments and more extensive renovations.

The River Brue bridge needs the most work. The track will be removed to replace the bridge deck. Repairs will include steel and masonry work, waterproofing, and drainage before relaying the track.

The Middle Drove bridge will also get masonry repairs and a full replacement of the bridge span. New sections will be lifted into place by crane.

Track drainage will be replaced at Uphill and Dunball. New pipes and inspection chambers will be installed. Surveys will also happen in the Highbridge and Burnham area.

Follow-up work on the Middle Drove and River Brue bridges will continue until June 24. Accommodation Road will be fully closed until mid-June.

Scott Pillinger from Network Rail said this work is essential for safe and reliable train service. He thanked passengers for their patience during this time.

Adam Hopkins from GWR mentioned that this work is part of ongoing improvements. GWR trains will still run between London Paddington and Taunton or Weston-super-Mare.

Rail replacement services will be available for stations between Taunton and Weston-super-Mare. Passengers can also use rail tickets for local buses to Weston-super-Mare, Highbridge & Burnham, Bridgwater, or Taunton.
