Glasgow is bracing for snow and strong winds this week, with weather warnings in effect. Stay safe and prepared for possible travel disruptions.
Glasgow: Looks like we’re in for some snow this week! Weather warnings are already out, and it’s going to be a wild ride.
From 3am Friday to 3pm Saturday, we’ll see snow and strong winds. There’s even an amber warning for very strong winds on Friday from 6am to 9pm. So, hold onto your hats!
Storm Éowyn is rolling in, bringing winds up to 80mph along the coast and 60mph inland. That’s bound to cause some travel headaches.
The Met Office is predicting wintry showers as the week wraps up. They say rain will start falling northeast on Friday morning, but it might turn to snow, especially in the hills.
Don’t expect the snow to stick around too long, though. In northern England and southern Scotland, we might see 2-5 cm on the hills, and 5-10 cm at higher elevations.
But up north of the Central Belt, it could be a different story. We might get 15-25 cm of snow above 300 meters. With those strong winds, blizzard conditions could pop up, especially on higher ground.
Areas like East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, and others around Glasgow are in the mix for this weather. So, if you’re in those spots, keep an eye out!
The forecast for Glasgow from Friday to Sunday looks pretty stormy. Expect rain and snow at first, then just a lot of wind and scattered wintry showers.
And hey, if you’re out and about, make sure to stay safe in these strong winds. It’s always better to be prepared!
