Stoke-on-Trent is bracing for snow this weekend as Storm Éowyn brings a mix of weather challenges, including rain and strong winds
Stoke-on-Trent: Looks like we’re in for a wild weekend! Forecasters are saying snow might hit North Staffordshire, especially early Saturday morning. How cool is that?
Storm Éowyn is no joke. It’s being called a ‘multi-hazard event’ because it’s bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and yes, snow. North Staffordshire is under a yellow warning for wind on Friday and rain from Sunday into Monday.
Weather maps from WXCharts show snow could blanket the area early Saturday. The BBC and Met Office aren’t fully on board with the snow predictions, but they agree it’s going to be chilly.
Expect temperatures to drop to around 0°C on Saturday morning, but it’ll feel like -3°C. In the Moorlands, it could be even colder, dropping to -1°C and feeling like -4°C. Brr!
Leek might see some sleet Saturday night, but Stoke-on-Trent should stay dry, just cold. Sunday is looking wet with light showers that could last into Monday. So, grab your umbrella!
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Paul Gundersen said, “Storm Éowyn is a multi-hazard event, with snow likely for some, rain for many, and strong winds for much of the UK.” Sounds like a mixed bag!
Storm Éowyn is expected to move across Northern Ireland early Friday and then head northeast into Scotland. Even if you’re not in the red warning areas, you might still face some disruptive weather.
So, if you have travel plans, keep an eye on the weather. And remember, wintry conditions won’t last long before turning into rain. Stay warm and safe!
