Bath: So, last year, six schools in Bath and North East Somerset had their Ofsted reports updated. It’s always interesting to see how schools are doing, right? Ofsted checks in on schools regularly, and they publish reports online that show how well each school is performing.

Each school gets rated on a few key areas like the quality of education, behavior, and how well they’re managed. They can get ratings like ‘Outstanding’, ‘Good’, ‘Requires Improvement’, or ‘Inadequate’. It’s a big deal for schools because it reflects their overall performance.

Before September 2024, schools used to get a simple one or two-word judgment based on these ratings. But that’s changing! Now, they won’t get a direct judgment, but you can still figure out how they’re doing from the report. Starting next year, they’ll even get a report card.

In November and December, six schools in the area were inspected, and their new reports are out. Let’s dive into what they found!

First up is Stanton Drew Primary School, which got a ‘Good’ rating across the board. They’ve got a cozy vibe and are known for their support for kids with special needs. But, they need to work on helping students build on what they already know.

Then there’s St Mary’s Catholic Primary, also rated ‘Good’. They’ve been doing well for ten years! The kids behave well, but they need to check if students remember what they’ve learned.

Norton Hill Academy is a standout with a mix of ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ ratings. The students are doing great, especially in the sixth form, but some subjects need a bit more attention.

St Mary’s CofE Primary School nailed it with an ‘Outstanding’ rating in every area. They’ve got a solid curriculum and support for all students, which is awesome!

St Philip’s CofE Primary also got a ‘Good’ rating. They’re all about helping kids become confident readers, but they need to focus on ensuring students grasp key knowledge across subjects.

Lastly, St Martin’s Garden Primary is still in the ‘Requires Improvement’ category. They’ve made some progress, but there’s still work to do, especially in using assessments to help students learn better.

So, there you have it! It’s always good to see how schools are evolving and what they’re doing to improve. Let’s hope they keep pushing forward!
