A major fire in Burslem has led to six injuries and the evacuation of nearby homes and businesses, causing significant disruption in the area.
Firefighters are still on the scene, working hard to control the blaze on Waterloo Road. It seems like a sari shop might be the one that caught fire, but that’s not confirmed yet.
The alarm went off just before 1 PM, and you should have seen the response! Fire engines, police cars, and ambulances flooded the area. They even had to close off part of Waterloo Road to keep everyone safe.
A spokesperson from Staffordshire Police mentioned they got the call around 12:42 PM and quickly alerted the fire service. They set up a cordon and evacuated nearby businesses and homes as a precaution.
So far, six people have received oxygen treatment, and paramedics are on-site helping out. They’re asking everyone to steer clear of the area for a while as they deal with the situation.
West Midlands Ambulance Service is also there, assessing several patients. Witnesses even saw firefighters rescuing people from the upper floors of the building. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported, but it’s definitely a chaotic scene.
