Exeter: So, there’s been quite a stir in Exeter lately. Travellers living near the racecourse have been told they need to pack up and leave in six months. But here’s the kicker—people are worried about where they’ll go next.

Cllr Janet Bradford really hit the nail on the head when she said, “I can’t vote for people to be made homeless. We need to have some humanity here.” It’s a tough situation, and it’s clear that many folks are feeling for them.

The site has about 15 caravans, and they’ve been there for nearly two years. But since they haven’t been there long enough to be considered ‘established,’ the council is pushing for enforcement action.

The only official site nearby is already full, and there’s a waiting list. It’s like a game of musical chairs, but with nowhere to sit! Some council members are suggesting that the council should just take over the site instead of kicking everyone out.

Cllr Paul Parker pointed out that just moving them won’t solve the problem. They’ll just find another spot, and the issue will pop up again somewhere else. It’s a real head-scratcher, and it seems like a decision should be put on hold until there’s a better plan in place.
