Birmingham: A fairground ride in the city center has caused quite a stir. The Star Flyer ride collapsed, leaving several people injured. It happened on Thursday evening, and the area around the ride in Centenary Square was quickly sealed off by police.

Photos floating around online show the ride’s seats all tangled up. This ride was supposed to give folks a stunning view from 55 meters up. But instead, it turned into a scene of chaos.

Emergency services were on the scene in no time. Police cars, ambulances, and fire engines rushed to help. A police officer mentioned that the ride had indeed collapsed. According to West Midlands Fire Service, the ride “failed and crashed,” dropping to ground level while it was still in operation. One person had to be taken to the hospital.

West Midlands Police released a statement saying they had officers in the area due to reports of the ride malfunctioning. They noted that a few people were being treated by paramedics, but thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. The area remains cordoned off as they continue to assist emergency services. They advised everyone to steer clear of Centenary Square for now.
