Seven gang members received a total of 37 years in prison for running a drug operation between Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool
Stoke-on-Trent: A group of seven gang members has been sentenced for their roles in a drug trafficking operation. They were part of a scheme that moved drugs between Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool.
The gang, known as the ‘Scouse Chris’ crew, was involved in supplying heroin, cocaine, and cannabis. They operated from August 2019 to January 2020, with users in Stoke-on-Trent contacting them for drugs.
Police caught on to their activities when they stopped a vehicle in August 2019, finding heroin and cocaine inside. The court learned that there were over 130 trips made from Liverpool to Stoke-on-Trent during the operation.
Judge Graeme Smith highlighted the devastating impact of drugs on individuals and communities. He pointed out how addiction can lead to a downward spiral, affecting not just users but their families and neighborhoods.
He also noted that many of the defendants had shown signs of turning their lives around, which he considered when handing down sentences.
The sentences varied, with some getting several years in prison while others received community orders or suspended sentences. The judge emphasized the need for rehabilitation and support for those struggling with addiction.
One defendant, Sharon Orr, was absent from court due to being in the hospital, and her case was postponed. Meanwhile, two others who failed to appear are currently being sought by the police.
It’s a tough reminder of the ongoing battle against drug-related crime in the area, and the court’s decision aims to send a clear message about the consequences of such actions.
