Daniel Tunney, a 42-year-old from Crewe, has been sentenced to 10 years for possessing thousands of child abuse images and videos
Crewe: A man named Daniel Tunney has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for some truly horrific crimes. He was caught with nearly 50,000 images and videos of child abuse. It’s just awful.
This 42-year-old guy was labeled a prolific sex offender. When the police looked into his devices, they found a massive collection of indecent material. We’re talking about over 90,000 images in total!
Among those, there were 603 of the most serious category A images and a bunch of videos too. It’s hard to even wrap your head around how someone could do this.
Tunney was already on a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which means he was supposed to keep the police in the loop about any digital devices he had. But he didn’t, and that’s how they caught him.
When the police raided his home, they found three unregistered devices. He didn’t say much during questioning, just kept saying “no comment.” But the evidence was overwhelming.
After the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Nathanael Johnston made it clear that Tunney was a serious threat to children. Thanks to the hard work of the police, he’s now facing the consequences of his actions.
Detective Constable Meg Griffiths also emphasized that these crimes are not victimless. They’re committed against real children, and the police are dedicated to stopping this kind of exploitation.
It’s a tough situation, but at least justice is being served.
