A Scots chef has been sentenced to 12 years for raping a woman while she slept, amid a long history of violent abuse
Edinburgh: A chef named Scott Wilson has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for some truly awful crimes. He raped a woman while she was asleep and subjected her to years of abuse.
This guy was not just a one-time offender. He bombarded his victim with nasty messages and even held her at knife point. It’s just sickening.
Wilson, who’s 33, was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape, after a trial at the High Court in Livingston. The abuse started with name-calling and escalated to physical violence.
He would hit her and threaten her and her family. On one occasion, he forced his way into a bathroom with a knife and assaulted her. It’s hard to believe someone could be so cruel.
After the trial, he got a 16-year extended sentence, with 12 years behind bars. His name is now on the sex offenders register for life, which is a small comfort for the victim.
There’s also a non-harassment order in place, so he can’t contact her again. The Procurator Fiscal, Katrina Parkes, called him a dangerous predator and praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward.
Police Scotland is taking this seriously, and they want to encourage anyone who’s been through something similar to speak up. They’re here to help, no matter how long ago it happened.
It’s a tough situation, but hopefully, this outcome gives the victim some peace of mind. No one should have to go through what she did.
