Edinburgh: Valentine’s Day is coming up, and it’s a great time to book a getaway in Scotland. There are many lovely hotels and inns across the country for a cozy staycation.
If you want something extra special, consider a hotel recognized by the Michelin Guide. These hotels are known for their high quality and service.
Recently, the Michelin Guide listed hotels in Scotland with Michelin Keys. These keys are like Michelin Stars for restaurants, showing top-notch quality.
The Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder is the only hotel in Scotland with three Michelin Keys. It’s about 50 miles from Edinburgh and Glasgow. This historic hotel has three golf courses, a spa, and a two-Michelin Star restaurant.
Michelin Inspectors call Gleneagles Scotland’s top hotel. It feels like a private country club, welcoming everyone with friendly staff. The rooms are cozy, featuring antiques and rich fabrics.
Guests can enjoy many activities, from relaxing at the spa to playing lawn games. There are also outdoor adventures like fishing, archery, and guided hill walks.
Two hotels in Scotland have two Michelin Keys: The Balmoral in Edinburgh and The Fife Arms in Braemar. The Balmoral, established in 1902, is located on Princes Street.
The Michelin Guide praises The Balmoral for its spacious rooms and the Michelin-recommended Number One restaurant. Guests can also enjoy over 500 types of Scottish whisky at the SCOTCH bar.
The Fife Arms, a former coaching inn in the Highlands, is known for its uniquely styled rooms and impressive art collection.
Additionally, 12 Scottish hotels have received one Michelin Key. Some of these include Glenapp Castle, Dumfries House Lodge, and Links House at Royal Dornoch.
