A schoolboy was taken into custody after fireworks were hurled at a home in Dingle, causing a fire and endangering lives inside
Dingle: A wild night unfolded in Dingle when a schoolboy was arrested for throwing fireworks at a house. It all kicked off on January 8, around 8:10 PM, when the police got the first call about a firework aimed at a door.
A few hours later, they received another call saying a window had been smashed, and guess what? Another firework was thrown through it! Firefighters showed up around 11:30 PM and found the living room on fire. Luckily, everyone inside got out okay, but it was a close call.
One person had to be rescued, and another two managed to escape before the firefighters arrived. The ambulance service was also there to check on everyone. One person did end up in the hospital for a bit of extra care, but thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
Damage was visible, with a wrecked front door and a broken window. The police cordoned off the area as they started their investigation. They arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of arson and criminal damage, and he’s currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Steve Street mentioned how serious this could have been. The residents are understandably shaken up, and the motive behind the incident is still unclear. The police are asking anyone who might have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward, especially if they have any CCTV footage.
