Archie York, a seven-year-old explosion victim, aspired to be a police officer, leaving his family and community heartbroken after his tragic death
The blast happened on Violet Close in Newcastle, and it shook the whole community. People gathered at the West Road Crematorium to pay their respects. Archie was a student at Bridgewater Primary School, and everyone loved him.
His parents, Katherine and Robbie, shared their pain and thanked everyone for their support. They even showed a picture of Archie in a police uniform, which really hit home. They said losing him feels like a nightmare they can’t wake up from.
At the funeral, Archie’s coffin was carried in a horse-drawn carriage, covered in flowers. It had a Marvel theme, with comic characters decorating it. Many mourners wore Marvel-themed clothes too, which was a lovely touch.
Sadly, Archie wasn’t the only victim. His dad, Jason Laws, also died in the explosion. He’ll be laid to rest soon.
As for the explosion, a man named Reece Galbraith has been charged in connection with it. He pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and other charges. His trial is set for May, and it’s expected to last about a week.
It’s a tough time for everyone involved, and the community is coming together to support each other through this tragedy.
