London: The second season of SAS Rogue Heroes is coming back to BBC One, and it’s taking us to mainland Europe. We’re diving into spring 1943, where Paddy Mayne, played by Jack O’Connell, steps up to lead the SAS after David Stirling, portrayed by Connor Swindells, gets captured.

As the focus shifts to new global challenges, the future of the regiment is uncertain, especially with some concerns from GHQ. Plus, there’s a new unit forming and some unexpected arrivals that shake things up.

Returning to the show are familiar faces like Dominic West as Lieutenant Colonel Dudley Wrangel Clarke and Theo Barklem-Biggs as Reg Seekings. It’s great to see them back!

And there are some fresh faces joining the mix. Gwilym Lee will play Bill Stirling, David’s brother, who was a real-life war hero leading another SAS branch. You might recognize Lee from Midsomer Murders or as Brian May in Bohemian Rhapsody.

He shared how welcoming the cast was, saying it can be tough joining a show in its second season, but everyone was super friendly. He feels the weight of telling this incredible story about brave people.

Con O’Neill, a seasoned actor, will portray British Commander General Montgomery. He’s known for his role in Blood Brothers and has appeared in shows like Chernobyl and The Batman.

Mark Rowley plays Jock McDiarmid, who really puts Paddy to the test. Rowley is also known for his role in The Last Kingdom, so he’s got some serious acting chops.

Jack Barton, who you might know from Heartstopper, takes on the role of John Tonkin. He’s been in other projects like Poor Things and War of the Worlds.

There are also new characters coming in, with Paolo De Vita, Anna Manuelli, Edward Bennett, and Matteo Franco joining the cast in undisclosed roles.

Steven Knight, the show’s creator, mentioned that the team is now in Italy facing a whole new set of challenges. With new characters and a new regiment, there’s bound to be some drama!

He highlighted Gwilym Lee’s performance as Bill Stirling, who feels the pressure of living up to his brother’s legacy. It sounds like there’s a lot of depth to explore this season.

SAS Rogue Heroes Season 2 is set to stream on BBC iPlayer, so don’t miss out!
