The community mourns the loss of Harry, a cherished alpaca who brought joy to many lives
Humberston: It’s a tough day for everyone at Lincolnshire Llama. Harry, the beloved alpaca, has sadly passed away. He was such a character and brought so much joy to those around him.
At nearly 15 years old, Harry was the oldest of the group. His curious nature might have led to his tragic end, as he got stuck in some fencing overnight. Katie Good, his owner, is heartbroken.
She’s started a GoFundMe to cover the costs of his cremation. She wants to scatter his ashes in the field with his friends. Harry had a special way of connecting with people, from kids to the elderly.
He loved munching on fresh hay and hanging out on little mud hills, just soaking in the view. He even visited children’s parties and care homes, where he’d lay down for photos with everyone.
It’s just so sad. Katie said he got trapped while being his usual curious self. They have CCTV footage showing him wandering around before it happened. It was a dog walker who first reported it, and Katie’s dad found him later.
Harry was more than just an alpaca; he was family. He was the first alpaca to join their herd and always looked out for everyone. His personality was bold, and he touched so many lives.
Since launching the crowdfunding appeal, Katie has been overwhelmed by the support. People who knew Harry have donated, and even some anonymous folks have stepped up. It’s heartwarming to see such kindness.
The other animals seem to know something’s off too. One of Harry’s half-brothers is acting a bit down, and it’s tough to watch. Katie mentioned they’ve had a rough few years, but losing Harry is the hardest blow yet.
Any extra funds raised will help support Lincolnshire Llama with food and fencing. It’s a tough time, but the community is rallying together to remember Harry and support the farm.
