Dublin: Ryanair is making big changes for passengers starting in May 2025. They’re updating their boarding pass rules, and it’s important to know what’s coming. If you don’t follow the new rules, you might face extra fees at the airport. Here’s what you need to know.

First up, hand luggage size restrictions. Ryanair is known for low ticket prices, but their hand luggage rules are strict. You can only take one small bag for free. If you want to bring more, you’ll have to pay. Some travelers have found bags that fit the size requirements for under €20.

The allowed size for your small bag is 40 x 20 x 25cm. There’s a popular bag called the Aerolite that fits this size perfectly. It’s designed to meet Ryanair’s rules and is currently priced at just €13.21. Many travelers are sharing tips on social media about this bag.

If you need to bring a larger bag, consider upgrading to a Priority fare. This option gives you extra baggage space. Online, adding Priority and two extra bags costs between €7 and €43. If you wait until check-in, it could cost you more.

Next, starting in May 2025, Ryanair will only accept digital boarding passes. Paper passes will no longer be an option. Right now, you can print your pass or download it on your phone. If you forget, it could cost you €66. By 2025, you won’t be able to print a pass at the airport.

Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, wants to make everything digital. He believes this will make the travel process smoother for everyone. He’s excited about eliminating paper and check-in desks.

Lastly, make sure to arrive at the airport on time. Ryanair suggests getting there at least 40 minutes before your flight. If you’re late, you could face a missed departure fee of €120. This fee applies if you arrive less than 40 minutes before your flight or up to an hour after departure.

Stay informed about these changes to avoid extra fees and enjoy your travels with Ryanair.
