A couple was turned away from their Ryanair flight due to a minor passport tear
Manchester: So, there was this couple who got totally bummed out at the airport. They were all set to fly Ryanair to Tenerife for Sebastien’s birthday, but then a little tear in his passport ruined everything.
Abriella, 32, said the tear was just a tiny one along the spine, probably from some loose glue. But Ryanair said no way, and they refused him travel. The couple was left watching their flight take off without them, which is just heartbreaking.
They had to go back through passport control, where Border Force officers told them the passport was actually fine. Can you believe that? Abriella, who has three kids and relies on Sebastien for care, was just devastated.
They had planned a two-week getaway to celebrate his birthday, but now they’re scrambling to get to the HM Passport Office in Liverpool to sort things out. What a hassle!
To make matters worse, they had to wait an hour to get their luggage and Abriella’s wheelchair back. They arrived at the airport super early, around 3:45 am, and everything seemed fine until they got to the gate.
Abriella shared how they checked in without any issues, even using Sebastien’s passport to exchange money at Travelex. But when it came time to board, the Ryanair staff took one look at the passport and said, “Nope, can’t travel on that.”
They tried to reason with him, but it was no use. They watched their flight leave and had to exit through Border Force, where they were told the passport was valid. Talk about mixed messages!
Now, they’re left wondering what to do next. Abriella mentioned they’ve kept their passports safe for years, and this is the first time they’ve had an issue. Ryanair, on the other hand, insists the passport was damaged and that they followed the rules.
It’s just a tough situation for them, and they plan to file a complaint with Ryanair once they get home. Fingers crossed they can sort it all out!
