Wrexham AFC’s new training facility was targeted by thieves, causing significant losses and damage during the holiday season
The facility is being built to help the club’s young players, but it seems some folks decided to take advantage of the holiday break. They made off with a John Deere tractor and a trailer, and even damaged a locked gate.
The break-in happened sometime between December 20 and January 3, and the police are on it. They’ve asked anyone with info to reach out. The club has filed a report and is hoping to get some money back through insurance.
This whole project has had its share of drama, too. They started building before getting all the necessary permissions, which raised eyebrows. The new site will include changing rooms, offices, and a gym, all aimed at nurturing the next generation of talent.
While some neighbors have voiced concerns about noise and the look of the buildings, the local council gave the green light, partly because of the positive impact Reynolds and McElhenney have had on the community.
But not everyone is happy. A local resident pointed out that this isn’t the first time the club has had to go back and ask for permission after starting work. It’s a bit of a mess, and folks are hoping they can sort it out soon.
