Mountain Ash: The RSPCA recently stepped in to rescue 50 cats from a home in pretty rough shape. It’s a real eye-opener about how some animals are treated.

They first rescued 35 cats back in October 2023, then another 15 in February 2024. Can you believe these poor kitties were crammed into metal cages? It was a total mess, with cages full of cat waste.

The owner, Pauline Perry, had already been banned from keeping cats by the courts. It’s heartbreaking to think about what these animals went through.

During the trial, it came out that Perry had ignored the ban and kept the cats in terrible conditions. RSPCA Deputy Chief Inspector Gemma Cooper described the scene as “distressing.”

She found cats in cages that were soaked and filthy, and some were even locked in a cupboard under the stairs. Just imagine how scared and uncomfortable they must have felt!

After the rescue, most of the cats were taken to the RSPCA Merthyr Tydfil Veterinary Clinic for a check-up. Thankfully, many of them have now found loving homes.

It’s a relief to know that these cats are finally safe and getting the care they deserve. The RSPCA is doing great work, and it’s so important for all of us to support animal welfare.
