Eleven kittens were discovered abandoned in a box during freezing temperatures in Leicester. The RSPCA is seeking information about the incident.
The kittens were found January 15th, Wednesday, in Western Park, Leicester. Six were male, five were female, and freezing conditions endangered them. The RSPCA took the carrier to Woodside and realized how many kittens were inside.
The tiny cats were packed together tightly, nose to tail, all crammed in. A vet checked each kitten’s health, finding at least two litters. Their ages varied from nine to sixteen weeks.
A center spokesperson shared their surprise, “We removed kittens; we couldn’t believe it”. More and more kittens kept appearing, filling the room. It was really strange, they said, as the kittens seemed happy to be out after being squished in the box.
Many seemed unhappy to have been confined, and it was sad they faced such a situation. The spokesperson said the kittens were thin, underweight given their ages, but overall, the kittens seemed okay. Woodside staff vaccinated all eleven kittens, and the center seeks new homes for them soon.
Inspectors noted the kittens’ frightened state. Now, they’re in smaller groups, and their personalities shine at the cattery. Mostly black and white cats were found, along with one ginger and white kitten and one completely black kitten.
They named them after “Bluey” characters: Bandit, Bingo, Lucky, Rusty, Stripe, Muffin, Winton, Brandy, Chilli, Indy and Lila.
RSPCA Inspector Herchy Boal was surprised; it was “one of the most bizarre things.” They thought all were out, then found more. She thinks the kittens were very scared, and the box smelled strongly of ferrets.
The cats didn’t mess in the box, so they weren’t there for a long time. Rescuers are grateful to those who found them and want information about the kittens.
