A Rotherham man faces additional jail time after a hit and run incident resulted in a dog’s death and injuries to two men
Rotherham: So, there’s this guy named Cameron Callear, right? He’s been in some serious trouble lately. He just got hit with an extra six months in jail for being part of a hit and run that tragically killed a dog.
This all went down on August 16, 2023, in Pontefract. Callear was a passenger in a Ford Mondeo that crashed into two men and their dog. Not cool at all.
The prosecutor, Andrew Stranex, mentioned that one of the guys involved had a bit of a sketchy past, trying to steal drugs from a woman’s home earlier. Callear was in touch with her and decided to tag along for the ride.
In court, it came out that he had already pleaded guilty to some other violent stuff. He’s serving time for that and got an additional sentence for this hit and run. It’s a real mess.
Apparently, the car sped right at the two men, hitting one and injuring him. The other guy got hurt too, and sadly, the dog didn’t make it. Just heartbreaking.
After the crash, Callear opened the car door and hit a witness on the thigh. The witness was in shock from everything they saw. It’s just a wild situation all around.
The judge told Callear he’s got to serve those extra weeks on top of his current sentence. It’s a tough break for him, but it’s hard to feel sorry when you think about what happened.
