The Gurkha Buffet Restaurant in Blackpool addresses the tragic death of a woman found in its restroom after three days
Blackpool: A restaurant is speaking out after a tragic incident. Sabrina Lyttle, a 47-year-old mum, was found dead in a disabled toilet at the Gurkha Buffet Restaurant. She had gone in on November 28 and was discovered three days later.
The restaurant, located on Waterloo Road, serves a mix of Chinese, Thai, and Indian dishes. They explained that Sabrina entered the premises to use the restroom, but the restaurant had already closed for the night. Staff directed her to the pub toilets, which are separate from the disabled toilet.
Access to the disabled toilet is restricted and requires staff assistance. It seems that no one had requested access until Friday evening, and by then, it was reported as a maintenance issue. The staff tried to unlock the door but couldn’t get it open.
Management finally alerted the police on Saturday after failing to gain access. They’ve mentioned that there’s a lot of misinformation circulating online, which isn’t helping anyone, especially Sabrina’s family and the restaurant staff.
An inquest into her death is scheduled for April 3 at Blackpool Town Hall. Sabrina’s mum has shared that customers had trouble accessing the toilet in the days leading up to the discovery of her daughter’s body.
Police confirmed they were called to the scene on November 30 and found Sabrina’s body. They stated that her death is not being treated as suspicious, and their thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.
