A heroic restaurant owner saved a woman from drowning in her car during severe flooding in Leicestershire
Leicestershire: A restaurant owner named Cimi Kazazi has become a local hero after he saved a woman trapped in her car during a flood. This dramatic rescue happened early in the morning, just before emergency services declared a major incident in the area.
It all started around 5 a.m. when Cimi got a call from a neighbor about the rising floodwaters at his pub, The Italian Greyhound. He quickly discovered that the water was over a meter deep, completely submerging the pub’s beer garden tables.
While assessing the situation, neighbors spotted a woman struggling in her car and called for Cimi’s help. Without hesitation, he waded through the freezing water to reach her. It was a tense moment, and he was filmed carrying out the rescue.
Once he got her out of the car, he brought her to the safety of the pub. Even with heaters around, she was still shivering from the cold. Cimi shared that she told him if he hadn’t arrived in another 15 minutes, she would have passed out.
He described the water as “worse than Iceland” and urged her to forget about her belongings in the car. Fire crews later arrived with boats to check for others who might be trapped, and Cimi noted that this flooding was the worst locals had seen since the 1960s.
Despite being hailed a hero online, Cimi remains humble. He expressed satisfaction in helping someone in need, even as his business faced challenges from the flooding. He emphasized the importance of life over material things and encouraged others to avoid driving through floodwaters.
