Pembrokeshire faces ongoing waste collection issues due to resource challenges and staff shortages
Pembrokeshire: So, it looks like Pembrokeshire is having a tough time with waste collection lately. A spokesperson from the county council mentioned that “resource challenges” are still causing disruptions.
During the holiday season, many households found their waste collection services affected. This was due to staff absences, vehicle issues, and just a lot of waste piling up.
In fact, about five percent of last week’s collection rounds were impacted. The council said some folks didn’t get their waste picked up on the scheduled day.
They advised residents to hold onto any waste and recycling they can until the next collection day. They’re trying to get back on track as soon as possible.
They also mentioned that they had extra resources lined up to handle the increased waste from Christmas. But, unfortunately, vehicle breakdowns and staff shortages have made things tricky.
Councillor Rhys Sinnett apologized to everyone affected and assured them they’re working hard to fix the situation. Residents can still put out an extra black bag for collection after Christmas, and the waste and recycling centers are open for bookings.
