Rescue teams have found personal items belonging to a British hiker missing since New Year’s Day in Italy’s Dolomites mountains
This discovery comes after the tragic news of Harris’s body being found under the snow earlier this week. The two friends had set out for a trek and were expected back by January 6. When they didn’t return, a massive search operation kicked off.
Rescuers tracked their mobile phone signals to the Passo di Conca area, where they found Harris. Now, they’ve recovered items belonging to Ziriat, which has brought a mix of hope and sadness to their friends and family.
Spencer Jones, a close friend of Harris, shared his heartbreak on Instagram. He expressed how devastated he felt and remembered Harris as an incredible friend and a brilliant business partner.
The last time anyone saw the two was at a mountain refuge called Casina Dosson. They even sent a cheerful video message on the day they disappeared, excited about their adventure ahead.
Joe Stone, a university friend of Ziriat, mentioned that there’s a grim acceptance among their circle that the news might not be good. Still, everyone hopes for a miracle.
Crystal Palace Football Club, where Ziriat works, has also reached out for help on social media, urging anyone with information to come forward. They want to locate Ziriat and Harris, who were last heard from near Casina Dosson. If anyone knows the area, they’re encouraged to contact the authorities.
