Kilkelly: Big news for the locals! Duffy’s Pub is getting a fresh start after its collapse last year. The plans to rebuild have finally been approved.

It’s been just over a year since the pub fell down, trapping five people inside. That was a scary day for everyone involved. The collapse happened when a nearby house was being torn down.

On October 31, 2023, a video showed the wreckage, and folks were just stunned by what they saw. The pub was in ruins, and you could see the shock on people’s faces as they walked by.

There were garda units chatting with locals, and a digger was busy clearing the area. A lamppost also took a hit, and a white van was caught up in the mess.

Now, they’re planning to demolish what’s left of the old building and put up a new bar and lounge, plus some outdoor space. They’re even adding three new apartments to the mix!

This is exciting news for Duffy’s and the community since the pub has been a beloved spot for 120 years. Can’t wait to see it back in action!
