Gwent’s recent heavy snowfall brought joy and challenges, inspiring readers to capture the beauty and chaos of winter.
Gwent: This past weekend, Gwent was hit with some serious snowfall. Our local Camera Club was out and about, snapping photos of the winter wonderland.
The Met Office had warned us about the snow starting Saturday evening, and they even upgraded the alert to amber. It was a wild night!
By Sunday morning, many folks woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow, while others found icy roads and slush. There was also a yellow rain warning in effect, which didn’t help matters.
Public transport took a hit too. Buses from Stagecoach and Newport Bus had to delay or cancel services because of the snow turning into slush. It was a bit of a mess!
Driving was tricky, especially in the rural areas. Some cars were slipping around, and a few just couldn’t make it through the heavy snow.
Gritters were out again on Monday night, preparing for more snow and ice. They had a yellow warning in place, so they were on it!
But hey, despite the chaos, people made the most of it. Kids and pets were out enjoying the snow, building snowmen and sledding down hills. It was a blast!
