A man has been sentenced to 15 years for stalking and raping a woman in Crewe, with plans for his deportation after serving time
Crewe: A man named Nzar Salah has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a horrific crime. He stalked a woman for hours before attacking her. It all happened in 2023 when he approached her while she was out for a walk.
During the trial, it came out that Salah followed her closely and harassed her. The victim was understandably scared and even started recording on her phone to protect herself.
After the attack, she reported it to the police, and they quickly arrested Salah. The audio recording from her phone turned out to be key evidence that helped convict him of three counts of rape.
Last September, the jury found him guilty, and now he’s facing 15 years behind bars. Once he serves his time, he will be deported back to Iraq.
Detective Superintendent Helena Banusic praised the victim for her bravery. She mentioned how tough it must have been for her to go through the trial and relive the trauma.
Banusic emphasized that getting justice for the victim and keeping the community safe from someone like Salah was their top priority. It’s a relief to know he won’t be around to harm anyone else.
